Aled began singing with the Bangor Cathedral choir in Wales at the age of 9.
After winning many national singing competitions, in 1985 the BBC issued his version of "Memory" from the musical "Cats" which was a minor success.
Later in 1985, Aled's next release "Walking In The Air", which was originally sung by Peter Auty in the Raymond Briggs cartoon "The Snowman", was a massive hit.
Aled released a number of albums and became the first person to have two classical albums in the pop charts at the same time.

Married Claire Fossett in 2001. They now have a baby daughter, Emilia who was born in 2002.
Hosts the BBC television program "Songs Of Praise" and is a presenter on the Welsh language magazing programme "Heno".
Is now a presenter on the radio station Classic FM.
In 2002, released a top selling classical album called "Aled".
in 2003, Aled released the album "Higher" which was again well received and went gold in less than 2 months, selling over 100,000 copies.

Aled took part in the BBC series "Strictly Come Dancing" where he danced each week with Lilia Kopylova in front of judges. The pair eventually came 4th in the overall competition which was won by "Eastenders" actress Jill Halfpenny and her partner Darren Bennet.
In 2004, Aled released a Christmas album featuring a collection of popular christmas carols and festive songs.
In January 2005, Aled performed at the Tsunami relief concert at the Millenium Stadium in Wales.

In 2006 he hosted the Songs of Praise "School Chior of the Year".
In 2006, Aled released a best of album called "You Raise Me Up: the Best of Aled Jones" which includes a recording of his classic hit "Walking In The Air" where a new recording of his voice is superimposed on his original voice.

He recorded a duet with himself called "What Can You Tell Me", with one part recorded when he was a boy, and the other part recorded years later when his voice had broken.
Aled sung at the wedding of Bob Geldof and Paula Yates.
