Born Alison Moira Clarkson in Kensington, London in 1970.
First charted in 1989 when guesting on the Beatmasters' single "Hey DJ I Can't Dance (To That Music You're Playing)".
Had top ten hit singles with "Doin' The Do" and "Where Are You Baby?".
Cancelled a tour after it was discovered she was miming to pre-recorded music at an Australian concert.

Took time out from her pop career in 1994 to look after her mother.
Wrote the single "Pure And Simple" which was a number one hit for Hear'ay and became the fatest selling UK single ever.
Released the album "Doin' The Do: The Very Best Of Betty Boo" in 2001.
Has been working on new material using her real name, Alison Clarkson.
Alison has also written songs for Girls Aloud.
In 2006, Alison joined up with Alex James, the bass player from Blur to form WigWam. Their first single, also called "WigWam", was released in April 2006 but failed to reach the UK top 40.

When she won the 1991 Brit Award for Best Newcomer.

She is half Malaysian, half Scottish.
